Annual Wellness Exam

Yearly evaluations of your pet's condition and overall health are recommended.  These annual check-ups include a complete physical examination, vaccination boosters, heartworm and fecal tests, and discussion of flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  As a crucial part of your pet's continued health, his/her dietary needs may also be assessed.

Dietary Counseling

Nutrition is key to maintaining good health and may be an important part of your pet's prescribed treatment.  We carry a large selection of veterinary diets including Purina, Eukanuba, and Science Diet.  Most diets are in-stock. We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance.

Obesity

Obesity in animals can cause a variety of health problems including heart complications, diabetes, knee and joint problems, among others. We have a new weight-loss plan to effectively restore your pet to his/her ideal weight and significantly reduce the risk of severe health issues to your pet.  The weight-loss plan includes and diet program aided by a medication called Slentrol.  Your pet's progress and condition will be carefully monitored throughout the program.

Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Prevention

The easiest and most effective way to protect your pet year-round from parasites is to use a topical medicine to kill and prevent fleas and ticks, and an oral medication to prevent heartworm and internal parasites such as roundworms and hookworms.  The most popular flea and tick medications that we carry are Advantage, Advantix, and Frontline.  Iverheart is the brand of heartworm medication that we dispense by prescription only.  It is important to remember that while flea and tick medication can be dispensed without an examination or prescription, heartworm medication is by prescription and an annual physical examination as well as a heartworm test are recommended before using the Iverheart medication.

Flea and Tick:

Advantage:   Available for both dogs and cats, Advantage is applied once a month for flea prevention only.

Advantix:  Available for dogs only. Advantix prevents and kills both fleas and ticks and also contains a repellent chemical to cause dead ticks to detach from pet's skin and fall off. Advantix is also applied once a month.  Warning: Chemical repellent may be harmful to cats. Ensure that any household cat that may come in contact with dog after application of Advantix is not exposed to dog until 24 hours after application.

Frontline:  Available to dogs and cats to kill and prevent both fleas and ticks. Safe to apply monthly to all domestic dogs and cats.

Heartworm:

Iverheart: Necessary for dogs only. This chewable tablet is given to dogs once a month to prevent heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms.
